California Wedding Photojournalism
Here's the thing.
You are anything but typical and you're making damn sure your wedding isn't either. Your memories of this day are going to be audacious, romantic, wild, and obviously, f*ing fun.
So, what's the point, if after all of that, you end up with the same old, boring wedding images that everyone else has?
Oddly enough, one thing that really shaped my view of wedding photography was school picture day. Stay with me on this! You sit down in front of a stranger for two minutes, they contort you into uncomfortable shapes, and then send you off so they can torment their next victim. I could have looked amazing in those photos (I didn't, I was awkward in a way that even photoshop couldn't fix) but I always hated looking at them, because they reminded me of that uncomfortable, assembly-line experience.
That is the exact opposite of what you should feel on one of the best days of your life.
So, what makes me any different than those other photographers? No, I'm not the most unique or even the most creative. But that's because I want you to be you, and not just some portfolio piece. I spend time getting to know what's most important to you so that I can anticipate when to give guidance and when to step back. When others might push for "the shot," I'd rather advocate for you.
That attitude may not win me many awards but I honestly couldn’t care less. I shine when you do. I'm a photojournalist at my core and my favorite photographs have always been real, honest, and unforced.
Because I focus on genuinely understanding the priorities of each and every couple I work with, I accept a very limited number of weddings each year. I specialize in intimate weddings with small guest counts, nontraditional ceremonies, and unconventional elements, but I'll happily make exceptions if it just feels like the right fit.
Above all else, it's about authenticity.
Ready to explore? Let's connect and find out if it's meant to be.
Not sure if you're ready yet? Here's an overview of what you can expect:
First, we'll schedule a quick call to learn a bit about each other and talk about what you envision for your wedding.
If it feels like we're a match, we'll schedule an in-person or online meeting with the two of you. We'll get to know each other better and we'll talk about everything that's important to you. I'll tell you about how I work and what I can do to support you.
If it's meant to be, we'll make it official.
If you're just looking for some basic numbers first, most couples spend between 8-10k for all-day coverage. My preference is all-day coverage because it allows me time to properly tell your story and show how it truly felt to be celebrating with your closest loved ones. That said, I know that more intimate weddings and elopements may not require as many hours and I'm happy to create a custom proposal after talking through your specific needs/ wishes.
In the meantime, explore how other couples have celebrated their partnerships.
